This bad boy is a 92 point wine spectator wine. Light body with notes of mushroom and spice. The nose carries through to the palate. Reminiscent of a Pinot Noir, I get a good touch of cedar on the finish in this well balanced light wine.

A grape varietal I have not visited for some time is Mencia (Mehn-cee-ah) from Spain. The 2016 Armas de Guerra from the Bierzo wine region and is cherry-red colour and a hint of purple. Aged in oak for 4 months it features ripe red and black fruit aromas with a touch of mocha. On the palate some blackberry, ripe blueberry, vanilla and mineral hints. A light to medium body wine, this would pair with lighter dishes such as pork, charcuterie boards, and hard cheeses.
